On September 3, 2013, Microsoft and Nokia announced a deal where Nokia's Devices and Services division has been snatched by the Redmond-based Microsoft. After months of discussions in the board, there were a few hiccups in the completion of the deal, mostly because of regulatory approvals.
Nokia had stated that April, is when it expects “the sale of substantially all of its Devices & Services business to Microsoft”. This will be just somewhat late compared to the Microsoft-Nokia deal forecast of the acquisition closing within the first quarter of the year. Subject to regulatory approvals, the deal is gaining pace, getting “most of the required regulatory approvals”, from, but not limited to, the European Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice. The Finns and our folks from Redmond are expected to give us a very refined experience with deep hardware and software integration.
