TechNow: 816,610 & now the HTC Desire 616

The HTC Desire 616 has leaked & we can take a first look at its photos published by the Chinese TENAA. It has approved the device to hit the market, which hints that its announcement isn't far away. The Desire 616 looks to be a budget mid-range offering with a 5" 720p display and a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek CPU with 1GB of RAM. Rather disappointingly, the phone comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.But MediaTek is to blame for this as they have not yet released the drivers for their chipsets and socs. By the looks of it, HTC is targeting China as the primary market of the Desire 616, but as it often happens, a global version could be available as well later on. At the back, the Desire 616 packs an 8MP camera with LED flash. The phone measures 142 x 71.9 x 9.1 mm and weighs 150 grams. It doesn't sport front-facing BoomSound speakers, like its bigger brother the One (M8). We expect it to go official sooner rather than later.
