TechNow: My thoughts on the HTC One 2014 edition / HTC M8 (before announcement)

HTC has always been a smartphone OEM that has managed to impress not only me but the entire mobile industry. Be it their groundbreaking design principles to the intuitive software, HTC has always had an amazing developer community support. But the company's luck isn't to good as it is easy overshadowed by Samsung, LG, Moto, etc.
In 2012, Although HTC has developed several notable Android devices, such as the Dream—the first publicly released Android device, it failed to capitalize on the first-mover advantage, and has struggled financially in recent years due to the increasing market share captured by other vendors such as Samsung and Apple. In some markets, HTC released numerous carrier-specific phones and relied heavily on wireless providers to promote its products, a strategy that was unsuccessful in the face of Samsung and Apple’s strong marketing efforts. The flagship phone in 2012, the One X, received critical acclaim from reviewers, but was commercially unsuccessful. In response, the company planned to take bigger risks with their next flagship device to make it stand out among its competitors, and also planned to take a more direct role in promoting its products—doubling its marketing budget for 2013.
In 2013, HTC knew that they had to get serious about their mobile portfolio and serious is what they were. With the introduction of the HTC One (2013), HTC set the bar higher for device aesthetics, appearance and in-hand feel. HTC also introduced a new camera sensor which they call the Ultrapixel, a regular 4MP sensor with OIS and pixel size of 2 microns. HTC also introduced Boomsound, dual frontal speakers with Beats Audio and a dedicated amplifier.
As HTC's March 25th event approaches, HTC is just so excited to introduce the successor to it's critically acclaimed HTC One (2013), it has launched a YouTube video series where they speak about the features of the phone called "Technical Translations" (http://goo.gl/RjBwv2 ).
But as much as HTC tried to keep the phone away from leaks, we have seen multiple shots of the device, ui screenshots, leaked press images & even a 12 minute long walkthrough of the device! So.... what can we expect from the device?? Let's find out, shall we?

<< This information is tentative and can change on announcement >>
1. Display: A 5" SLCD3 1080p display with on-screen buttons.
2. SOC: A Quallcomm Snapdragon 801 (8974-AB) consisting of 4 Quallcomm Krait 400 cores @ 2.35GHz and an Adreno 330 (2160p)  @ 578 MHz & 2GB RAM
3. Speakers: Dual asymmetrical frontal "Boomsound" speakers.
4. Camera: HTC duo imaging technology which uses a 16MP sensor for regular shots and an Ultrapixel sensor for low light shots with dual tone LED flashes.
5. Software: Google Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0
6. Storage: 32GB and 64GB with microSD expansion.
7. Build: Unibody aluminum frame sourced from custom-grade aluminum. The frame to be etched with channels in which the poly-carbonate is inset using zero-gap injection molding.

Well this is all we know about the HTC One (2014). This rumored device seems to fix the shortcomings of its predecessor and it should be a killer device, if the pricing and availability is handled smartly and if Robert Downey Jr. & HTC's marketing team advertise the device in a spectacular way, not only will HTC be out of it's never ending losses and go into profit, the HTC One (2014) will raise the bar for device hardware and user experience.

UPDATE 1: It looks like Verizon will be carrying the all new HTC One exclusively for a couple of weeks, claims reports from trust-able sources... though i personally fell this is less likely to happen!
