Apple’s launch of the iPhone 5c has been met with some very interesting results. The company has been stuck with millions of units in stores and in factories, and as a countermeasure to this overstock, the company has decided to sell a, dare we say “cheaper”, iPhone 5c with just 8GB of storage in certain markets. You’d think that coming from a company like Apple, this was the move it had to make to have these sell, but you won’t be surprised at the results.
The company has just launched the 8GB iPhone 5c in additional countries, the list including: Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Portugal, Austria, Spain, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Switzerland. Sadly the biggest problem with the device, is that aside from the fact that you barely have enough space for music and apps, you’re also paying roughly €50 less than what you’d pay for the standard 16GB iPhone 5c.
Apple is sadly not providing the media with any numbers on how the iPhone 5c is performing, but it’s hard to see this strategy working as some customers complain that since the 8GB iPhone 5c is considered new, some retailers are actually selling it at a more expensive price than the 16GB model.
