TechNow: Looks like Google's finally helping leak the upcoming colourful Android applications

If you've been paying attention to Android leaks on TheEverythingNow’s TechNow, you've probably caught on to a trend that seems to be developing with Google’s Apps for Android. Starting with some leaked Gmail screenshots the first week of April, we've been seeing this new look for a number of Google’s own Android laps, highlighted by bold, solid colours, a flat UI, and a new focus on round icons. Example after example surfaced, and last week we checked out the most recent to land, a refreshed Google+ app. So far, though, all of this has been coming our way at least one stepped removed from Google – so while the overall design was consistent, it was difficult to say how official any of this was. Well, we still don’t know when any of these updates may land, but now we finally have one of these teases from the horse’s mouth, with Google spotted tweeting a pic of its own.
dialer-2
During some Twitter-based user support last week, the Google Nexus account sent out the screenshot you see here. While the dialer app appears to be functionally identical to the version we’re familiar with from the Nexus 5, this one has that unmistakable splash of colour up top.

It was hard to deny this change was happening before, considering the sheer amount of support behind it, but with a Google-sourced screenshot like this, we’re feeling substantially more confident that these changes will ultimately see the light of day. The question of “when” still remains, but it’s probably safe to say we’re past the “if” point by now.
