This
book is about cancer patients yet not so much about cancer. It’s a breathtaking
book about Hazel Grace Lancaster who has until now endured on a few drugs
although the doctors were yet running tests and there was no telling how much
more will she survive. Despite the
tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has
never been anything but terminal,
she was a girl who rarely got out of her bed, spends time reading her favorite
book over and over again and was preparing for death all her life. Her life
changes drastically when she meets Augustus Waters who were known as “Gus” to
many, in one of the support group sessions she seldom attended. Augustus Waters
was bold, appealing and had a
prosthetic leg but didn’t have any signs of cancer.
The biggest distinction between Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters was that Gus
yet had an entire life to live and Hazel, well she was a grenade, she could
leave any time. But that doesn’t have any effect on Gus’ feelings and
attraction he has toward Hazel Grace.
From
here I think it’s best for you to go read it yourself. It’s a quick read and
with the astute banter that is as ethereal as that of its author, John Green has written a book that
will last forever. The Fault in Our Stars will make you chuckle, quite
often, and keep a smile on your face, but there will come a point where you
also do agonize and cry. I
find it very difficult to make a review of the books of Green because they are
written so well that I don’t know what’s best for it and I hope I am not doing
any injustice to the wonderful book he has written.I hope you enjoy reading this book!
The movie based on this book,
going by the same name, which has been directed by Josh Boone will be released
on June 4, 2014. In this movie Shailene Woodley will play
the character of Hazel grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters will be played by Ansel
Elgort
Other books by John Green: Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines, Will Grayson,
Will Grayson and many more.
